Lola Okunola is an award-winning mixed media artist, draws profound inspiration from the rich traditions of African culture and fashion. Her artistic journey spans continents, blending the vibrancy of traditional African aesthetics with contemporary expression to create a unique and compelling voice.
Lola’s work is gaining widespread recognition, with her pieces featured at The Hamilton Hotel in Alpharetta, a distinguished venue. Her Heritage in Hues showcase at the Distillery of Modern Art (DoMA) explored deep themes of identity and heritage, reflecting her Nigerian roots. As a member of the Arts and Culture Commission of Brookhaven, an Atlanta suburb, Lola serves as a cultural ambassador and advocate for the arts.
Lola’s upcoming lecture and exhibition, Threads of Identity: African Textiles in Mixed Media, will take place during Pan Africa Week at Kennesaw State University, further highlighting her exploration of African heritage through her art. In 2025, she will showcase her work in Los Angeles in the A Gogo III show, which opens on February 20th at the Pacific Design Center in collaboration with Mash Gallery.
Her multidisciplinary approach has earned her acclaim, with exhibitions at venues and art shows such as Miami Art Week, The Scene Art Gallery, Zari Gallery in London, Jennifer Balcos Gallery, Hammonds House, Spotlight on Art at Trinity School, and West Elm stores in Atlanta and Houston. Her work has also been featured at Northpoint Mall, on CBS’s Bob Hearts Abishola, and The Portia Show on Fox. She also won an award in the 2020 Brookhaven Strong Art Contest. Lola continues to captivate audiences with her vibrant fusion of African and global cultures.
